Classic and Timeless Wedding in Niagara
Katie and Mike were blessed with a beautiful hot day at the end of May. They were able to have the outdoor wedding of their dreams at a time when the weather can be pretty unpredictable. The site of their wedding was the stunning Gracewood Estate in Niagara-on-the-lake. One of my favourite venues in this area. The manicured grounds encourage your guests to roam around through the orchard trees and vineyard rows. It does not fall short for picture spots, that’s for sure!
Mike proposed right before these two left for a months-long South East Asian adventure. We first talked via Skype while they were in Vietnam just over a year ago. Still remember it like it was yesterday.
I loved many aspects of this wedding but here are some things that stood out for me. Katie wanted a separate reveal for her dad. A kind-of “First Look” with him. She even played a song that meant something for both of them as she walked towards him. I’m so happy that Bruna of Simply Lace captured this adorable moment perfectly!
When we were creating their itinerary, I remember Katie and Mike asking for some time to be set aside during the First Look to exchange their personal vows. It was a very sweet request, and something that I had not been asked of yet. I think you’ll see that it was a very heartfelt moment for the both of them. If you are nervous speakers like these two, I think it’s great to carve out some time for just the two of you. What you say to each other in front of your guests won’t be dampened or become less meaningful in any way. You’ll have two extremely special moments: intimate and private and one surrounded by your loved ones.
Their design was crisp and clean. Garlands of greenery on white linens, scattered white pillar candles and a hint of silver in their mercury votives under a canopy of twinkly lights. Simple, understated, but oh so pretty! We kept all of the tent walls open so that guests had unobstructed views to their surroundings. A great way to let the beauty of the venue speak for itself.
To cap of the evening, we asked guests to join us outside for the couple’s first dance. My assistant and I had sparklers on the ready to help create a magical moment for the newlyweds. After they cut the cake, we opened the barn doors to reveal desserts on desserts! Their Late Night included a homemade donut wall filled with delicious Beechwood Doughnuts. It also included a candy buffet which was destroyed in a matter of minutes! Big kids in a candy shop!
I was so happy to be a part of Katie and Mike’s beautiful wedding. The energy of love was palpable throughout the day. From all of their family and friends helping with all the set-up and homemade decor, to how these two looked lovingly into each others eyes all day. It was just love all around. Heart eyes all day!
