Abby and Daniel met with me just over a year before their intended wedding date in the dead of winter. I could tell from that first meeting they were a pretty relaxed couple when it came to planning their wedding. Their main concern was the ease of their families to be able to make it to their chosen destination and really just have a good time!
Destination Wedding in Jamaica
I forget the exact reason they chose Jamaica, but I was excited to be able to help them out nonetheless. I do remember that they were so nonchalant about how many guests they were expecting. They averaged it to be about 15 or so, mainly family from Toronto and Nova Scotia. Well, they ended up doubling that with an extra few bodies!
After some time going through resort options in Jamaica with the help and guidance of iLuxe Travel, they chose the Grand Palladium all-inclusive resort. A beautiful, sprawling hotel just about half an hour from the Montego Bay airport.
Compared to the Grand Bahia in Runaway Bay which we were just at, I’d say this was the better choice. I’ll write another post about my thoughts and the differences between a handful of Jamaican resorts for your comparison.
The resort consisted of these cute “little” villas that separated everyone’s rooms into smaller blocks and the two happily got ready with their families. Abby entrusted her future in-laws in making sure Daniel rolled up his sleeves “properly and evenly”, so naturally, I also went to check in on him that morning 😉
Abby was cool as a cucumber! Daniel’s sister arranged for a girl’s morning, doing their nails together. The on-resort spa took care of her hair and make-up, in record time might I add! She’s a natural beauty, inside and out.
They chose the gorgeous gazebo site for their ceremony, overlooking the blue waters of the sea. April in Jamaica can be a bit iffy but we were fortunate enough that the rain passed our little nook of the island. If it did rain, the Plan B site was actually JUST as pretty! No worries mon!
Guests were serenaded by the cool sounds of the steel drums while taking their seats where sunglass favours awaited them.
Since both of them are from the maritimes, they decided on a nautical colour scheme of navy, white and coral accents. I helped them create some one-of-a-kind aquatic centrepieces as well!
Even though Daniel and Abby repeatedly told me they’re guests probably wouldn’t dance, the dance floor was RARELY empty for the rest of the evening! Maritimers know how to get down. And shout out to our bartender who kept amusing us with lighting the bar on fire, much to the dismay of his supervisor, haha!
Also, mother-daughter dances forever! This was probably one of the sweetest, most heartfelt moments I’ve had at a wedding in awhile.
Another beautiful and intimate wedding I was SO lucky to be a part of. Thank you to Abby and Daniel for such a memorable experience! xo
