Llama themed 1st birthday party

Are you ready for the cutest little llama themed 1st birthday party? Former wedding clients of mine approached me with the task of putting together a birthday party for their daughter and I jumped at the chance. Lucky for me, Maya really loves llamas so we took that and ran with it!

Since Maya had a pretty big guest list, roughly 60 adults and 25 children, we all decided that holding it at their condo party room would be best for their budget. For lunch, we ordered delicious packages from Paramount which checked all the “needs” boxes for parents, grandparents, and kids.

As a condo room is not your “ideal” photo ready space, we had to get creative. My husband and I created a simple backdrop for the sweet table. We placed this in the middle of the room to become the party’s focal point. I am lucky enough to have been to Peru and was inspired by the South American prints. You know that alpaca sweater or toque you bought either before or after your Machu Picchu hike? That kind of print. We used a stencil and a very light yellow paint, so as to not overwhelm the overall scheme. There were also some bright red couches included in the room which is why I incorporated this pop of colour with the cute pastels.

Rounding out the decor included the CUTEST cake by Finespun Cakes. She also made the cacti and llama cookies. The kid-friendly cacti from Cre8ive Studios helped to spread the theme throughout the room. Did you notice the piñata by Big Ass Piñata? It was the absolute perfect centrepiece! I handmade the pom-poms and tassels as I couldn’t find anything that had the right colours to match everything. They ended up being a cute addition throughout the space.

Entertainment for the early afternoon included a music-making circle led by an instructor. Parents and children were given instruments and all sang together for about half an hour. It was all very sweet. Other than this, family and friends enjoyed each other’s company and ate all the delicious goodies! A great party to celebrate Maya’s first year of life!
